A cancelled train, sixty-one stranded guests, and a groom who finally has time to think.
Baraat at Platform Nine in short, for readers catching up.
What happens
A wedding party of sixty-one is stranded overnight at a junction station after their connecting train is cancelled. The wedding is at eleven the next morning, four hours away, and the roads are flooded. The next train is at 5:40 am.
The real story
The groom, Ankit, has never had an uninterrupted hour to himself since the engagement. The forced night on the platform gives him one. He is not in love with anyone else and has no secret - he simply does not know whether he wants this marriage or is just following the invitations that already went out.
The turning point
Around midnight Ritika, the bride, calls. They talk honestly for the first time and discover the same doubt on both sides. An uncle overhears part of it and repeats a distorted version, and by 2 am the platform has split into factions.
